How to put a kiosk next to Square

You do not have to leave the register you already have. Here is what it looks like when both are on the counter.

The most common reason an owner puts off a kiosk is that switching the register feels like a month of pain. It is — so do not switch it. A kiosk can stand beside Square, Clover or Toast and take its own orders.

How the two live together

The kiosk runs on our software and takes its own orders. Guests pay at your counter, the way you take money now. Your register keeps doing what it does: the regulars, anything complicated.

The kitchen

Kiosk orders show up on our Orders screen, on a phone or tablet at your counter, with every option and note. Orders from your register keep reaching the kitchen the way they do today.

What it costs

We quote the kiosk as one installed price, with a monthly fee. Nothing about your existing register changes, and there is no contract on our side.

What to watch for

Two things. First, menu drift: if a price changes on Square and nobody changes it on the kiosk, guests will notice before you do — so change both the same morning. Second, staff habit: for the first week somebody will keep re-ringing kiosk orders on the register out of reflex. That stops by day three.
